Marisa has been in the world of speech-language therapy for many years.  She began working for the NYC Department of Education for four years, diagnosing and servicing children with language-based learning disabilities and articulation disorders. She also served as a member of the Child Study Team. Marisa moved to New Jersey in 2005. She then began working for a local County Educational Services Commission, servicing children aged 3-18 with various language disorders and delays, and phonological/articulation disorders. Marisa has also worked with children aged 3-9 with Down Syndrome at a local preschool.  Most recently, Marisa has been in private practice where she has serviced private clients aged 1-16 as well as several preschool-disabled programs locally.  She is well rounded and has trained in numerous methods.  Marisa has taken Lori Overland’s, AEIOU & Hilda Pressman's feeding seminars, PROMPT training, Nancy Kaufman, Edythe Strand & other apraxia trainings, Sara Rosenfeld-Johnson’s Oral-Placement Therapy, several of Pamela Marshalla’s articulation seminars, sensory integration, central auditory processing, tongue thrust and numerous other post-graduate training seminars. She looks forward to pursuing as many continuing education opportunities as she can.  Marisa is married to her husband, David, and they have two young daughters.  She is certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, the New Jersey Speech-Language-Hearing Association and licensed by the state of New Jersey.  NJ Family Magazine also voted her as one of New Jersey’s Favorite Kids’ Docs for the past several years.

Marisa has an outgoing and fun spirit that delights my daughter into thinking Speech Therapy is fun. She does not complain about practicing her speech or going to her weekly lesson. The way Marisa utilizes everyday games and incorporates appropriate pop culture into the lessons is brilliant and engaging for the student.  We are absolutely delighted with her work and our daughter's progress.

The improvement my son has made has been huge.  He was very hard to understand and would get frustrated that we didn't know what he was saying.  His speech is so much clearer now.  It is wonderful to be able to talk to him and understand what he is saying.  Marisa has provided a warm, nurturing environment that my son has thrived in.

Marisa Gasman treated my daughter for a speech disorder, starting at the age of 2. Marisa was so easy to work with and she really took in interest in my daughter.  She made the sessions fun and educational at the same time.  My daughter actually looked forward to seeing Marisa once a week, and she really loved their sessions together.  Marisa is a dedicated, motivated, intelligent, and knowledgeable speech therapist, and I would highly recommend her to anyone!
